Definitions:
Chronic pain: A persistent pain lasting longer than three months. It can affect any part of the body and can occur at any age including in children (Brown et al. 2013). (It is worth considering that pain experienced in childhood may lead to pain in adulthood if not recognised and treated).
Occupational Performance: Client’s physical, cognitive and social abilities (Duncan 2011).
Biopsychosocial: “of relating to or concerned with the biological, psychological , and social aspects in contrast to the strictly biomedical aspects of disease (Merriam-Webster Dictionary).
Occupation: experiences which are active, purposeful, meaningful and contextualised according to Molineux (cited Curtin et al. 2010).
Antenatal: Antenatal period means before birth or during pregnancy (Tiran 2007)
Intrapartum: Intrapartum period means during labour and birth (Tiran 2007)
Postnatal: Postnatal period is the time from immediately following birth to 28 days after birth (Tiran 2007)
Intrauterine: Literally means within the uterus (Tiran 2007)
Episiotomy: An incision or cut made mediolaterally into the perineum when it is thinned during delivery to enlarge the vagina to allow or expedite delivery of the fetus (Tiran 2007)
